The Wisconsin Foundation for the Arts has announced the 2009 recipients of the Governor’s Awards in Support of the Arts, with Hudson Hospital & Clinics recipient of the corporate-business award. Hudson Hospital & Clinics is recognized for its Healing Arts program, a collaboration with The Phipps Center for the Arts, also of Hudson. The program’s mission is to bring the creative and visual arts to patients, guests and staff to welcome diversion from oftentimes challenging health experiences. In addition to the healing environmental architecture and design of the 25-bed hospital, outpatient and clinics facility, all areas of the building and gardens accommodate art exhibits—including patient, guest and staff areas. The Governor’s Awards in Support of the Arts began in 1980 to encourage and celebrate support of the arts throughout Wisconsin. Since 1980, the Wisconsin Foundation for the Arts has honored more than 145 businesses, individuals and organizations whose extraordinary contributions to the vitality of the arts in local communities or statewide deserve recognition. The Wisconsin Foundation for the Arts is a nonprofit public organization supported solely by membership dues and contributions.
